Behind the Artist

My artwork takes a poetic perspective of moments I've chosen to enrapture while journeying through life's many profound magical moments.
Often referencing South African landscapes, my work explores the ever present relationships between nature, culture and fine art. Having engaged subjects as diverse as our melting pot society; captured in each brush stoke movement, my work reproduces familiar visuals and rural environs, arranging them into new conceptually layered installations. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology and style is consistent.
Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring formal techniques, growing expertise and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the precise materials and the forms of the work chosen to embody them.
Projects often consists of multiple works, in a range of different canvas formats, grouped around; specific themes, time periods, adventures and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to my next body of work.
