This striking original oil painting by South African artist Liz Finlay celebrates the dramatic beauty of the Natal Mahogany tree. The composition features large, sculptural seed pods in various stages — some whole and green, others split open to reveal vibrant, fiery red and orange interiors — nestled among lush green leaves and branches.

Painted with expressive brushwork and rich, contrasting colours, the piece captures the bold natural forms and striking colour palette of this iconic indigenous tree. The interplay of deep greens, glowing reds/oranges, and earthy background creates a powerful and decorative botanical study.
